How it works
Step 1
Describe the installed setup
Select your operating system and provide the installed versions, installation method, documented endpoint shape, and exact error. Redact API keys, tokens, account details, private URLs, and personal data.
Step 2
Generate and verify the draft
Use the setup generator to create a configuration scaffold and verification checklist. Treat every bracketed value as a placeholder and confirm command and variable names against version-specific documentation.
Step 3
Run a minimal end-to-end test
Apply only documented settings, test the smallest supported request, and review local logs. If the generated draft conflicts with your installed version, trust the current project documentation.
A verification-first integration guide
This page helps Claude Code users evaluate and configure a documented OmniRoute integration without assuming a universal port, variable name, route, or model ID. Start with the setup generator above, compare its output with the documentation for your installed releases, and test with a non-sensitive prompt. OmniRoute and Claude Code are independent services; this site is not affiliated with either project.
What the OmniRoute and Claude Code Setup Connects
When a supported OmniRoute release documents integration with Claude Code, the request path is straightforward: Claude Code sends a request to the endpoint defined in the integration instructions, OmniRoute applies the configured route, and the selected upstream provider handles the model request. The exact endpoint path, authentication method, route names, and model identifiers can change by release. Treat this architecture as a setup model, not a promise that every version exposes identical commands or settings.
Build a Configuration Without Guessing
The setup generator turns your operating system, installed versions, installation method, and redacted error into a configuration scaffold plus a verification checklist. It should never request a live credential. Keep secrets in the secret-management method recommended by the relevant project, and confirm every variable name, file path, and command against documentation for the exact version installed. A generated snippet is a draft to review, not proof that the integration is configured correctly.
Verify the Connection from Both Sides
Verify the setup in layers before changing model settings. First, confirm that OmniRoute is running and healthy by using only its documented status method. Next, test the documented request path with a minimal, non-sensitive prompt if the project provides a safe procedure. Then run a small Claude Code request and review logs to confirm the intended route and upstream response. If the request succeeds but reaches the wrong route, model selection—not basic connectivity—remains the issue.
Troubleshoot Failures by Layer
Common failures fall into several categories: the OmniRoute process is not running, Claude Code points to the wrong host or path, a secret is missing or not loaded in the current terminal session, the selected route or model is unavailable, or copied settings still contain placeholders. Work from the innermost error outward, redact tokens before sharing logs, and restart only processes that must reload changed environment variables. Installed-version documentation remains the source of truth.
Frequently asked questions
Does OmniRoute work with Claude Code?
It can work only if your installed OmniRoute release documents a compatible Claude Code integration. Check the current documentation and release notes because supported endpoints, settings, and model identifiers may differ between versions.
What endpoint should I use in Claude Code?
Use only the host and path published for your OmniRoute version. Do not assume a default port, localhost address, API path, or header format; copy the value from the matching versioned documentation or configuration example.
Can I paste a ready-to-run OmniRoute config into Claude Code?
Treat generated output as a scaffold. Replace every placeholder, confirm the syntax against current documentation, and remove unrelated settings before testing it with a minimal request.
What information should I redact before using the generator?
Remove API keys, bearer tokens, cookies, account IDs, private URLs, usernames, personal paths, and identifying log data. Versions, operating systems, documented endpoint shapes, and redacted error messages are generally sufficient.
Is this an official OmniRoute or Claude Code page?
No. OmniRoute and Claude Code are independent services, and this guide is not affiliated with either project. Use each project’s own repository and documentation for authoritative commands and release-specific settings.
