Realistic names that belong to nobody
A fake name generator gives you believable names without using anyone's real identity. Writers use them for characters, game masters for non-player characters, designers for mockups and developers for demo accounts and test data. This one returns 15 fictional full names per click, each with an age range, a job and a home city, matched to the country or style you choose. It deliberately does not produce addresses, phone numbers, ID numbers or card numbers, so there is nothing in the output that can be mistaken for a real person's details.
What you can use fake names for
Fiction and role-playing: cast lists, villains, background characters. Design and product work: realistic names in app mockups, slide decks and screenshots, so you do not paste a customer's name into a demo. Software testing: sample users for sign-up forms, profile pages and spreadsheets. Teaching: example names for worksheets, case studies and exam questions. Privacy: a placeholder name when a site only needs a label and you prefer not to give a real one, where the site's rules allow it.
Pick the right country for believable names
Names sound wrong when they are mixed carelessly. A US batch leans on common first names and a wide mix of surnames. British and Canadian batches use regional surnames. German, French, Spanish and Italian batches follow each language's spelling, including accents. For a multicultural cast, generate several batches and combine them. Fantasy gives invented names with no real-world origin.
Fake names and honest use
The names are made up and may happen to match a real person, as any common name can. Use them for stories, testing and demos, not to pose as a real individual, open accounts under a false identity, or deceive anyone. Many services require your real name in their terms; follow them. For security testing, always use data you are allowed to use.
Tips for better results
Add a setting or era in the description and the names will follow it. Ask for a profession and the job line will match. If a batch feels too similar, change the country style or add a detail such as 'mixed ages' or 'unusual surnames'. For test data at scale, a script or a library built for data generation will be faster; this tool is made for picking names by eye.
Frequently asked questions
Is this fake name generator free?
Yes. It is free to use with no sign-up. A light hourly limit only prevents automated abuse.
Are the names real people?
No. They are generated fresh each time. A generated name can coincide with a real person's, as common names do, but it is not taken from any record or database of people.
Does it give fake addresses, phone numbers or ID numbers?
No. It outputs names with an age range, job and city only. It does not generate street addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, national ID numbers or card numbers.
Can I use the names in a book, game or app?
Yes. Fictional names are fine for stories, games, mockups and test data. If a name is important to your project, do a quick web search first to make sure it does not belong to a well-known person.
Can I generate names from a specific country?
Yes. Choose from US, British, Canadian, Australian, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Indian, Japanese or Fantasy.
Can I use fake names to sign up for websites?
That is up to each service's terms. Many require accurate information, so check the rules first. This tool is intended for creative, design and testing uses.
