TNPSC Photo and Signature Size 2026 (Group 4): KB, Pixels, Format
Updated 2026-10-11
Short answer: for the TNPSC Group 4 (CCSE-IV) 2026 application, published guides list the photo as a JPG of 20–50 KB, 3.5 × 4.5 cm (130 × 170 pixels), in colour with a white background and your name and the photo date printed at the bottom. The signature is a JPG of 10–20 KB, 230 × 75 pixels, signed in blue or black ink inside a 6 × 2 cm box. You can bring both files to the right size for free with our TNPSC photo compressor, which runs in your browser.
Always compare these numbers with the official notification on tnpsc.gov.in for the exam you apply for. TNPSC can change its rules between notifications.

How to resize your TNPSC photo on a phone
- Take or scan a clean photo. Plain white background, face centred, good light. Your studio print with name and date at the bottom works well – photograph or scan it flat.
- Crop to passport shape. Taller than wide, roughly 3.5 : 4.5. Any phone gallery editor can crop.
- Open the TNPSC photo compressor. It is preset to 50 KB and 170 px maximum side. Choose your photo and tap the button.
- Check the numbers. The result should show a size between 20 and 50 KB and about 130 × 170 pixels. Download the JPG.
If the result is below 20 KB, the source image is too small or blurry. Use a sharper photo; do not upscale a tiny image.
How to resize your TNPSC signature
- Sign inside a 6 × 2 cm box on white paper with a blue or black pen.
- Photograph it in daylight without shadows and crop tightly around the signature.
- In the compressor, type 20 in the KB box and 230 in the max side box.
- Download the JPG – it should be about 230 × 75 pixels and between 10 and 20 KB.
Common upload errors and fixes
- "File size exceeds the limit" – a phone camera photo is usually 2–5 MB. Compress it to under 50 KB (photo) or 20 KB (signature).
- "Invalid file format" – PNG, HEIC and PDF are refused. The compressor always outputs JPG.
- "File size too small" – your file is under 20 KB (photo) or 10 KB (signature). Start from a higher-resolution image.
- Face not clear / photo rejected later – heavy compression of a large background loses face detail. Crop first, then compress.
Why compress in the browser?
Your photo and signature are personal ID documents. Many "online resizers" upload them to a server. Our compressor works with your browser's canvas: the image never leaves your phone, and it disappears when you close the tab.
